Cassidy Homatas was born in 2003 near Chicago, Illinois, but lives in Riverview, Florida. She currently attends the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL, where she pursues a B.F.A. with a concentration in Animation and Digital Modeling. She primarily creates three-dimensional digital models of stylized or realistic characters and environments, but also engages in the mediums of drawing and painting. Her work aims to engage and immerse the audience in her creations and create a strong emotional connection between themselves and her characters, environments, and stories.
After graduating from University of South Florida, Cassidy plans on attending graduate school to pursue a degree and career in game design. She is passionate about video games and hopes to one day join a game development studio as a 3D modeling artist.
I have always loved animation and 3D modeling whether they be used as tools in film, television, or video games, as it is an art form that can be perceived and understood by people of all ages. Many of us have grown up with animations or video games being some of the first artistic works that we connect with and feel moved by. With my work, I aim to explore how animation and 3d modeling can be used as a tool for visual storytelling and worldbuilding. I strive to engage and immerse my audience in my creations, in order to create a strong emotional connection between themselves and my characters, environments, and stories. I am fascinated with this connection between the artist, the art, and the audience, and how my work can be used to evoke a powerful response from the viewer. I love the process of drawing, modeling, and animating different characters or environments using various digital programs, tools, and techniques, and watching as I slowly bring them to life before my eyes. With this, the possibilities are endless, and I have the power to tell any story and build any world I can imagine. I am deeply interested in the relationship between reality and fiction, and how I can explore this through my practice. I can create something based on reality, or something purely based on fiction that exists only in my mind. I aim to investigate themes such as adversity, conflict, heroes versus villains, and identity, and desire to develop deep connections between my viewers and my work by creating relatable characters and stories. This allows my work to provoke significant reflection and feelings, and thus a lasting impact on the audience.
